About Our Owner
Geoffrey W. Sheen, CDT, DDS, MS, is a rare find in the dental laboratory industry. Dr. Sheen received his DDS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993, and both his Certificate in Prosthodontics in 1995 and Master of Science Degree in Prosthodontics in 1997 from the University of Iowa, College of Dentistry. Prior to the completion of his dental degrees, Dr. Sheen attended Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, FL as a Pre-dental/Business Major, from 1986-1989, and worked as a Certified Dental Technician (in ceramics) and has owned and operated a Crown and Bridge dental laboratory for more than 35 years.
His never ending desire for learning coupled with a strong entrepreneurial drive has led Dr. Sheen on a successful, unique path. Because of his business background, he not only understands the clinical details of prosthodontics, he also understands the complex nature involved in the technical side of the business. It is rather unusual to find a dental laboratory both owned AND operated by a prosthodontist, allowing Dr. Sheen to build a uniquely successful business in the dental laboratory industry. Thanks to his experience and vast expertise in the field of prosthodontics, Dr. Sheen provides invaluable insight and services to Mustard Seed Dental Studio customers that the vast majority of the competition cannot.
Among his many achievements, including currently operating a private practice in Augusta, Dr. Sheen was also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation at the College of Dental Medicine at Georgia Regents University. He has served on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Dental Technology, the Journal of Prosthodontics, and the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. Dr. Sheen has lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of topics which include the following: anterior tooth treatment planning and esthetics, color theory and tooth shade taking, and advanced restorative dental procedures.
Dr. Sheen is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the Christian Medical and Dental Society.
Dr. Sheen and his wife of 40 years, Mary, have one son, Matthew. Dr. Sheen's personal interests and hobbies include: Flying (Instrument Rated Private Pilot), sailing, boating, woodworking, Missionary Dentistry, and Church related activities.
